Lyme disease is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi, which is transmitted through tick bites. Here you can read some lyme disease symptoms:
• Rash. The rash, called erythema migrans, is one of the hallmarks of Lyme disease.
• Flu-like symptoms.
• Migratory joint pain.
Bathing the skin and scalp and washing clothing upon returning home might prevent the bite and transmission of the disease. In 1997, there were 12,801 cases reported in the United States. Ixodes ticks in the northeastern and midwestern United States belong to the Ixodes dammini (scapularis) species, in the western United States to Ixodes pacificus, in Europe to Ixodes ricinus, and in Asia to Ixodes persulcatus. Doctors have learned a great deal about the illness since that original cluster of people was observed. Treatments are available for Lyme disease.
